How to Customize and Reinstall VPS Operating System
This article will help you to know how to customize and reinstall an VPS OS (operating system) on any server remotely.
When you order any service, you have the opportunity to customize different options and configurations of the selected and still unselected services. One of these options is to select the desired OS. We offer virtual servers for running Linux or Windows operating systems with different versions. Each user chooses the type of OS depending on their own preferences and requirements, as well as administration capabilities.
How to Select OS
There are three options to select the desired OS:
- Select the desired OS while customizing configurations of the selected service.
- Select the desired OS while customizing configurations of the unselected service.
- Specify the OS template in the order note if the required template is not in the list.
Option 1: Customize OS in Selected Service
To select the desired OS while customizing configurations of the selected service, follow the steps:
- Sign in and go to your client area.
- Click Add new service.
- Select Virtual Servers (for example) > click Configure.
- Select the definite plan.
- Select the desired OS from the presented options.
Option 2: Customize OS in Unselected Service
To select the desired OS while customizing configurations of the unselected service, follow the steps:
- Repeat the first three steps from the previous Option 1.
- Select the desired OS from the Platform drop-down menu.
Option 3: Specify OS Template in Comment Field
Specify the OS template in the order note if the required template is not in the list.
How to Reinstall OS
You can reinstall the OS after activating the service in your Client Area in two ways.
OS reinstallation: Method 1
To reinstall OS, create a technical support ticket through the ticket system after order activation.
If you have any additional requirements to set up the OS, enter them in the Comment field or create a technical support ticket through the ticket system after order activation.
OS reinstallation: Method 2
You also have the option of reinstalling the OS yourself via your Client Area.
To do this, follow these steps:
- In your Client Area, verify your email and set up two-factor authentication (2FA).
- Select the tab with active services.
- Select the active service you are interested in and click Manage.
- In the service control panel, find the column with the OS and click Reinstall OS.
- In the open window, you will be offered options for reinstalling the OS that was chosen when ordering a server initially.
- To proceed, select an appropriate OS image for installation / reinstallation, enter the code from Google Authenticator, and click Confirm.
Attention!
- Reinstalling the OS will delete all user data on the server.
- The server will be queued for reinstallation. The process usually takes up to several hours, depending on the load.
- If the server is not accessible within three hours, contact support.
