Setting up Mail on Server in ISPmanager

This article will help you to know how to set up mail on server in ISPmanager panel.

Adding Mail Domain

The mail domain can be added when creating a new user in the control panel.

If the mail domain has not yet been created, create it. To create the mail domain, follow the steps:

  1. Enter the panel as root.
  2. In the Mail section, click Mail domains.

  3. Click the Create mail domain button.

  4. Fill in all the fields in the window that opens:
    • Name – domain name.
    • Owner – the name of the user who will own the created mail domain.
    • IP address.
    • Default action – what should be done with letters that will be sent to nonexistent addresses in the newly created domain:
      • Option 1. Report an error – the message will be deleted, the sender will receive a message stating that such a mailbox does not exist.
      • Option 2. Ignore and delete – the message will be deleted, the sender will not receive any notifications.
      • Option 3. Redirect to address – specifies the address to which such letters are redirected.
      • Option 4. Redirect to domain – specifies the domain to which such letters are redirected.

  5. Click Create to save the changes.

  6. The mail domain is created.

Creating Mailbox

To create a mailbox, follow the steps:

  1. Log in to the control panel as root.
  2. In the Mail section, click Create mailbox.
    You can also create a mailbox from another user in the section.

  3. In the window that opens, fill in the fields:
    • Name – the name of the mailbox, in the full name it is indicated before the @ sign. Latin letters, numbers, dashes, underscores, and periods can be used.
    • Domain – which domain the mailbox belongs to, the full name is indicated after the @ sign.
    • Aliases – additional names for the mailbox. For example, you have created a mailbox named admin@mydomain.com and specified the aliases info, mail, support. All emails sent to info@mydomain.com, mail@mydomain.com, support@mydomain.com will automatically come to the created mailbox admin@mydomain.com.

      Aliases are indicated in the field separated by a space, for example: info mail support info-center.
      Aliases work within the same domain. This field is optional.

    • Send copies to e-mail – one or several addresses to which copies of all incoming messages of the created mailbox will be automatically sent. This field is optional.

    • Max size – the maximum size of the created box. This field is optional.
    • Note – additional information.
  4. Click Create to save the changes.
